High-Intensity Outpatient Treatment

A High-Intensity Outpatient Treatment Program is a full day program that allows clients to attend treatment during the day and return home at night.

Evening IOP

Our evening IOP meets up to four times per week from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and generally lasts from two to four weeks.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient program (IOP) is the next step after day treatment programs and offers a more flexible schedule.

Outpatient Rehab

Our Locations

We have two locations to meet the needs of people in Massachusetts and surrounding areas. Our Worcester location in central Massachusetts offers a scenic backdrop of lush landscapes and nearby water that helps people in recovery feel at peace while they work on themselves.

Our Gardner location in the northern area of Massachusetts is home to state parks and other beautiful outdoor locations. We help people discover their true selves again while participating in treatment in a scenic part of the state.

Our Admissions Process

Entering one of our addiction treatment programs Massachusetts is a three-step process.

  1. Assessment: This happens on a phone call in which one of our admissions counselors asks questions to determine your specific  needs. This clinical pre-assessment helps determine if you are a good fit for our program and which level of care you need.
  2. Approval: We discuss payments options, including using insurance, and a decision is made on green-lighting your entrance to our program
  3. Admission: A specific day and time will be chosen for beginning our program. Details of what to expect and what to bring with you will be discussed.

How We Treat Addiction At Lake Ave Recovery

We evaluate each person who comes to us on an individualized and personal level. Our comprehensive assessment starts with psychological and cognitive evaluations so we can understand your history with addiction, identify any co-occurring disorders that may affect your treatment and place you in the appropriate level of care.

The only way to successfully become substance-free is to attend different types of therapy that help address the triggers to drink or use drugs and develop healthy coping mechanisms. The types of therapy we offer include:

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions with a therapist help center a person and give them a safe space to speak openly about their addiction.
  • Group Therapy: The important of peer support happens when small groups of people meet under the leadership of a therapist. They share their fears and victories, and brainstorm about plans for the future.
  • Holistic Therapy: We believe a person cannot heal from addiction without addressing their mind, body, and spirit simultaneously. Holistic therapy provides experiential activities that help people center themselves.
  • Adventure Therapy: Getting out in the fresh air and experiencing nature helps people regain control of themselves and connect with nature. Activities include hikes along scenic paths, boating, sailing, and kayaking.
  • Exercise Program: People with substance use disorders often struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses, too. Exercise programs help people get moving and reduce their levels of depression and anxiety.
  • Trauma Therapy: Unresolved trauma often contribute to a person’s desire to use alcohol and drugs in an attempt to cover up their emotions and erase their memories. Trauma therapy helps people resolve past traumatic events so they no longer feel the urge to abuse substances.
  • Acupuncture: Inserting tiny needles into pressure points helps balance a person’s flow of energy and improves a variety of physical and emotional ailments.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: This therapy teaches people to understand how their emotions and thoughts are interconnected and influence the behavioral choices they make.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: This therapy teaches people mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

How Effective Is Addiction Treatment?

In 2022, the number of drug overdose deaths in the U.S. numbered 107,941. How effective addiction treatment is depends on the type of treatment, the severity of the person’s addiction, the length of time spent in a program, and the level of commitment of the person in care.

The good news is that the majority of people who attend treatment programs end up in recovery from their substance use disorders. In fact, reports from 2020 show that approximately 75% of people who endure an addiction to drugs or alcohol will go on to become sober.
